Claritas Limited is a family owned company that commenced trading in 1946. They have had premises in Central London, Harrow and now, Greenwich, from where they supply wholesale to the retail trade, educational and corporate bodies.

Claritas own the highly respected Hilkinson, Hilkin and Solus brands and are also major suppliers of leading brands such as CTP-COIL, Eschenbach, Lumagny, Waltex, Yamax and Silva.

With the ever dwindling number of independent retailers supplying the public, it was decided in 2002 to set up a website offering Claritas products direct to the public.

HQ for the online operation is in South Warwickshire, where Robert, with his trusty laptop, deals personally with all orders and enquiries and maintains the website.

We consider our customers’ security a priority. Our checkout is SSL (Secure Socket Layer) encrypted and approved by Verisign and payments are processed by market leaders WorldPay and PayPal. We do not, and will not share any information we have with third parties.

All goods are dispatched via Royal Mail, Parcel Force or DHL by the vastly experienced packing department at Greenwich.

The Claritas staff are excellent at processing orders and more than capable of dealing with returns, damaged goods and complaints in the unlikely event that these should arise.

HILKINSON OPTICAL PRODUCTS.

The Hilkinson brand was first established by E. Hill & Co Ltd in the early 1930's in Barnet, Hertfordshire manufacturing Binoculars and Telescopes, of which the latter, in particular, have become collectors’ items having last been produced close to fifty years ago. Many aircraft enthusiasts have fond memories of the Hilkinson Pancratic scope, a classic of it's time. The emergence of the Japanese optical industry necessitated the transfer of manufacturing to Japan in the mid-fifties. Hilkinson Binoculars were produced under license in the same factories for the next fifty years, with the same strict quality controls being maintained as they were in the U.K. With the virtual demise of the Japanese optical industry, it became necessary to move some of the production again. After nearly a year of sourcing trading partners and manufacturers, we have now taken delivery of the first of a new range of binoculars, and very pleased we are with them. Hilkinson have enjoyed an enviable reputation for providing high quality products at a sensible price.
We at Claritas have sold Hilkinson products since the late 1950’s and eventually bought the brand in 1980.
Claritas also own the Solus brand, which is used for our range of telescopes and budget binoculars and monoculars, and the Hilkin brand which was introduced in the mid 1960’s as a lower specification range of binoculars, originally made in Japan and later in South Korea.
